After many years of resisting the pressure from peers and family, I have finally opened up shop online. Welcome to my blog. I am off to Thailand to earn a certificate as a TEFL instructor, to learn the language and to immerse in the Southeast Asian cultures.

As the name implies, my name is Mike and I am a bit of a traveller. My journeys have taken me far and wide and have afforded me the opportunity to live in and explore some really amazing places around the globe. And while I have amazing skills at negotiating hostile border crossings, finding someone to put me up in a remote village, and always finding great food, I am a bit lacking in the “phone home” category.

Upon a reunion with friends or family after an extended stay abroad, I am barraged with complaints over my lack of writing or photo sharing. So, this blog is the stop-gap…the middle ground between eerie silence and the pervasive (and intrusive) nature of Twitter Facebook. Continue reading
